Bad Things found in Aperture

The following list is not definited and will be completed by everybody in the forum. It is placed here just to indicate to Apple development team what they need to enhance or modificate, even if a good job has been made with last releases.

Existing problems

- The hardware configuration needed (processor, graphic card and RAM.
Apple is also an hardware vendor).

- The speed of the application itself (needs to be increased).

- The previews creation (very slow).

- The library (even if it is decentralized now, the modified photos and previews are placed inside, and it is complex to understand).

- Some keyboard shortcuts don't work sometime.

- Some tools aren't as good as others.

- The IPTC management (still a big problem in the current version).

- Some bugs : the application which unexpectedly quits - the viewer which displays a black picture or strange things : white points on black and white photos.

- DNG format management (not native).

- Problem with accentued characters.

The lacks

- Lack of tools (vignettage - distortion - curves, even if it is possible to obtain the same result using Level and Anti-Dust).

- Lack of the possibility to actualize the photos in a folder already imported in the import window.

- No possibility to parameter the inspector adjustments : it's hard to have to click (+) button to add a tool each time we display a different photo in the viewer and when we need the same tools.

- Lack of filter and effect galleries (like in Motion...).

- More regular CoreImage updates in charge of new camara management.

- The color families or labels (allowing to attribuate a color to a group is very well-done in iView Media).

- The Print menu (too complex : we loose our way in the dedal of choices).

- The photos localisation (to have the following informations : Number and street name - City - Postal code - Region - Country).

- Not enough book themes and web galleries.
